The Alcona County Library is pleased to announce it has received a Summer Learning Grant from the Young Adult Library Service Association (YALSA) and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to purchase makerspace and robotic kits for the Library’s collection.  These kits include Magformers, Circuit Maze, Snap Circuits, Strawbees and Quirkbots, all which will be featured weekly on exploration tables at all Library branches during the summer.  All ages are invited to experience the Library’s Summer Reading theme, “Build a Better World,” by creating new structures and creatures with our new makerspace kits.  For more information on this and other Library services, please call 989-724-6796 or visit the web at

FREE Film History Class taught by John Blakemore
Six week class on Thursday afternoons at 2:00 p.m., beginning September 7, at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library.
Enjoy six classic comedy movies, with history and discussion before and after the movie, led by John Blakemore, professor of film and communications in Missouri.  Free class for all interested adults.  Free popcorn & beverages, too!
Participants will be enriched by attending all the classes, but each class is an independent unit.  Attend one or all!
